Designed by Gibbons Architects, Harakeke House is taking shape as a home built around clean, low-maintenance materiality and a strong indoor-outdoor connection. The exterior will pair Forté Millboard composite cladding with Premier brick veneer and James Hardie soffits — a combination chosen for its long-term performance as much as its look. The Millboard boards are moulded from real oak, giving genuine timber grain without the upkeep: no painting, staining or sealing, and no risk of rot, warp or splinter over time.

That same material logic carries through to the entry, where full-height glass and Millboard will run seamlessly from outside to in, giving the front door a sense of weight and continuity rather than a hard transition. Inside, Forté engineered timber flooring in a European oak look will extend out through the glazing to Millboard decking, tying the great room to the outdoor living space as one continuous finish.

The great room will be anchored by an Escea in-built wood fire, framed with a Nova-coloured render surround and purpose-built into the hearth and flue design. Fit-out throughout the home will be curated with the same attention: Plumbline sanitaryware and tapware, Quantum tiles, Modo carpet, and Windsor hardware bring a consistent, considered standard to every room.
